DISTILLER: Watershed Distillery
MASH BILL: Corn | Wheat | Rye | Barley |
AGE: 4 Years in Ohio Barrels
PROOF: 94 (47% ABV)
Appearance and Aroma: Hint of Spice, Toffee, and Oak. The Bottle label and packaging is modern and very clean. We like it when the distiller handwrites the batch #.
Taste: Moderate cigar and tobacco flavor with a bit of a soft finish. Hints of cinnamon. This Bourbon mixed well in a cocktail. This Bourbon was tasted neat, with Cola, and in an Old Fashion.
Finish: A light length finish that was dominated by spice, and woody finish. Vanilla and Cinnamon were detected but seemed to be a bit lost due to the higher ABV level.
Value: If this is in you are looking for a great mixing Bourbon or a spirit that is versatile enough to use in different cocktails than this would be an excellent selection.
OVERALL: This isn’t a Bourbon/Whiskey we would drink neat but this Columbus Ohio distillery really did an excellent job crafting a smooth Bourbon for all occasions.
Cocktail Recommendation:
Ohio Bourbon Manhattan
2 oz Watershed Bourbon
1 oz Sweet Vermouth
6 dash Angostura Bitters
Add ingredients to a mixing glass and stir for 35-40 seconds. Strain over rocks or in a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with your favorite cherries.
Alternatively: Drink 2 oz Watershed Bourbon neat over ice. Or without ice. Indoors or out. Enjoy.
